Our Family-Based Foster Care Programs

Family Foster Care

  • These are children and youth of families going through a difficult time due to a variety of reasons and as a result, their parents are unable to care for them.

  • Being a foster care parent means you will provide a safe, temporary placement for these children and youth in need until they can be reunified with their biological family.

  • Children in our Family Foster Care Program may become available for adoption if their biological parents cannot provide permanency for the child in care.

Treatment Family Foster Care

  • These are youth with emotional, social or behavioral issues, developmental concerns, past trauma, or medical needs who are deemed abused/neglected or abandoned and have been removed from their biological parents or other persons legally responsible for the child and require protective placement.

  • Being a treatment foster parent means that you will receive additional training for trauma based behavior management and provide a stable, temporary home until reunification with their biological family is possible.

  • Children in Treatment Family Foster Care may become available for adoption if their biological parents cannot provide permanency for the child in care.

Special Medical Family Foster Care

  • These are children and youth with minor to serious medical needs and/or complicated medical problems.

  • Being a specialized medical foster or adoptive parent means that you will receive additional specialized training and provide a safe, temporary home for those with physical, medical or developmental problems until they can be reunited with their biological family.

  • Children in special medical family foster care may be available for adoption if their biological parents are unable to provide permanency for the child in care.

Kinship Family Foster Care

  • Sometimes children need to be placed in the care of kin because they cannot stay home with their parents.

  • Kin caregivers may be a relative, friend of the family or a community member who has a significant and positive relationship with the child.

  • Children in Kinship Family Foster Care may become available for adoption if their biological parents cannot provide permanency for the child in care.
